Chess is often played with beautiful pieces. This is one of the reasons to start playing chess. We like the pieces and we like the game. The picture below illustrates some of this beauty.

   Beautiful chess pieces do indeed add an aesthetic draw to the game – you just want to touch them and move them around. There’s nothing like art that you can actually handle instead of just looking at it without the opportunity to touch. It’s a primal urge in all of us I think, not just the young.
